Introduction

In order to meet the increasing demand for power, Government of India is targeting for addition of 100,000 MW of power generation capacity by the year 2012. The enactment of Electricity Act 2003 has already initiated renewed interest on part of the private investors and accelerated efficient development of power sector.

The demand for electrical power will continue to be greatly in excess of the generating capacity.

B.C. Jindal Group is now getting into power generation business, leveraging its vast experience in project implementation, financial strength and managerial talent.

The Group's vision is to develop Thermal Power Projects in coal rich states with a total installed capacity of 5400 MW to be implemented in phases in next 5 years.
